Anyone with half an interest in the theatre could not have failed to notice the incredible acclaim the musical Wicked is getting both on Broadway and in the West End in London. It truly has built a tremendous following. I particularly like the song in it Defying Gravity. It really is a great song and so powerfully sung too. What makes the song even more special is the sentiment behind the song. Google the lyrics to the song and you will see what I mean.
I’m through with playing by the rules of someone elses game. That is just one of a number of great lines. Close my eyes and leap. It’s time to trust my instincts. Another two great lines.
What a message that is. What a strong powerful message that song and those words convey. It really is an inspirational song. But when was the last time you did anything other than what others would expect of you? When was the last time you trusted your instincts, closed your eyes and took a leap?
If you want to make changes to your life, and I have rarely met anyone who doesn’t, then you need to stop doing what you have always done and do something else. If doing what you have always done up until now has brought you to this point in your life and it isn’t where you want to be then it stands to reason you need to start doing things differently.
It’s time you closed your eyes, saw what it was you really wanted, trusted your instincts and took the leap. Only then will you know if you can defy gravity!
